what do you write when it’s been over two months?
My children came home today from visiting lovely Carlsbad, CA (just north of San Diego) with my Mom and Dad. My “middle” brother Bruce and his family live there and once a year Grandma and Grandpa take my kids down to see my bro and his fam, plus you’ve got Legoland, Marine World, The San Diego Wild Animal Park and the beach! Needless to say they had an awesome time. It’s wonderful to see them after a whole week, something is seriously missing when they’re gone.
So when I got home from coaching tonight ( I coach my sons U8 soccer team-or “football” for the Radfords and clan McManus and pretty much the rest of the world-My wife Sue coaches my daughter Summers U10 team) my kids were home! I didn’t expect them until about 9:00 or later. The kids had dinner on the road so we all jumped in the car and headed to Vics -the finest ice cream and sandwiches in Sacramento - established in 1947 - and the original owners son is the current owner and the whole family still lives within a couple of blocks - lucky for us we live a couple of blocks away too! For those of you who might not know me,I’ve pretty much lived in this neighborhood my whole life.
So I had turkey and swiss grilled on wheat, Sue had grilled cheese, the kids had ice cream(hand made every morning on the premises)and cuz I was feeling good after running around with a bunch of 7 yr. olds I treated my self to a Mocha Chip shake - very good!
Well I gotta go put the kids in their own rooms, they wanted to huggle with Mommy.
I had planned on this being my first post after two months…..
The family is at the mall on a Saturday( a rare occasion ) having lunch and doing a liitle shoping for Dads birthday( 33 - more on that some other time)
Summer my daughter(who painted my wife Sues avatar) sees a young lady wearing fishnet stockings in a kinda 80’s punk rock way.
She asks a little confused-
“why does that girl have fences on her legs?”
My son says “to keep em safe”
I’m sooooo glad they’re home.
goodnight Vox
